Tropical Storm Mawar Prompts Widespread Evacuation Orders in Japan

The Japanese officials ordered 1.2 million people in Japan to evacuate from Tropical Storm Mawar. Tropical Storm Mawar, threatened the areas that was near the Pacific over the week, the fear of the Storm Mawar rose because of the heavy rain menaced the landslides and flooding.


The Japanese officials ordered evacuations in Hamamatsu City, and alerted landslides and flooding in Tokyo. Power outages occurred in numerous homes. In the Tokyo area, forecasters warned about tornadoes including lightning, hail and sudden, heavy rain. According to FlightAware, a tracking website, more than hundreds of flights in Japan were canceled or delayed.


The tropical storms with sustained winds of 74 miles per hour categorized as 1 hurricane in the United States. According to the Meteorological Agency, the Mawar storm approached the east of Okinawa with maximum sustained winds of about 51 miles per hour. The heavy land affected Kochi, southwest of Osaka and other parts of the area were also affected by the rain and heavy wind a while later. Fortunately, only nine people were hospitalized from the Mawar storm.


Mawar was approached by the Philippines and Taiwan, and thousands of people in Luzon, which is in the Philippines, were ordered to evacuate. The Philippines gives its own names to typhoons when the typhoon entered in to certain part, and the Mawar storm named as locally as Betty.
