Thousands of residents on Guam still don’t have water or electricity after 2 weeks the typhoon passed. It was the strongest storm that blew across the island in more than two decades. The wind was 140 mph and storms churned over Guam for hours on Wednesday, May 24th. “Our apartment, the roof was blown off during the typhoon and all clothes and all appliances are totally ruined and we are homeless,” Perciejun Sta. Maria, of Mangiloa said. Sta. Maria spent most of the typhoon Marwar in her laundry storage room, where they are living now without any water and electricity.

Another person called Ramon lived in Guam for about 30 years, which means he was in Guam during the last strong storm Super Typhoon Pongsona in 2002. The super typhoon that happened in 2002 walloped Guam with 175mph wind and killed one person. No one died during the typhoon Marwar and recovery is going on. The next Thursday after typhoon Marwar, the Guam power authority said they restored 66% of the system. Few days before the storm, governor Guerrero asked president Biden for a pre landfall emergency declaration so she could get the aid earlier to Guam. There were also not a lot of power poles and power lines that were down so thy got it fixed earlier than they should have to be.
